Project Overview

The International Master of Applied Psychology Program (IMAP) is a cutting-edge program dedicated to cultivating a new generation of psychology professionals with a focus on Engineering Psychology, especially for those are interested in Ergonomics, Social Psychology and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience.

IMAP emphasizes the pivotal role of engineering psychology in enhancing social and psychological well-being. Students will explore how psychological principles can be effectively applied to improve user experience and foster human-centered design in various technological contexts.

The program aligns with the evolving scientific and technological landscape in China and beyond, addressing the needs of countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative as well as developed nations in the West. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications, IMAP equips graduates with the expertise to make meaningful contributions to both individual well-being and broader societal progress.

With a strong emphasis on "practical skills," IMAP prioritizes equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in Engineering Psychology and User Experience research. The program hones students' practical abilities while enhancing their competencies in psychology, design, data analysis, and business strategy. This holistic approach empowers students to carve out their own specialized niches and develop into well-rounded professionals with a global perspective and robust skill sets. The program welcomes international students from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to:

Recent graduates from domestic and international universities majoring in psychology, information technology, design, and related fields;

Professionals currently working in companies or organizations focused on artificial intelligence, mental health, and other related sectors;

Individuals from various fields who aspire to engage in applied psychology initiatives in the future.

Teaching Methods and Degree Award

(1) The degree program is designed to be completed in two years, with the option to extend to three years based on individual student needs.

(2) Language of instruction:All classes are conducted in English.

(3) Students can engage in full-time study while participating in practical learning opportunities (Co-Op). Upon successful completion of all coursework, internships, practical requirements, and fulfilling the specified grading criteria, students will be awarded the International Master of Applied Psychology (IMAP) degree and diploma from Tsinghua University, pending approval from the degree assessment committee.

Application and Admission

(1) Tsinghua University (THU) admits students based on a thorough evaluation of their application documents, complemented by a comprehensive assessment. Experts from the department will review the application materials (GRE and TOEFL scores are not required) and select qualified candidates for a re-examination, which will be conducted through an in-person interview or remote interview. The specific method, location, and timing of the examination will be communicated to selected applicants by the department.

(2) Applicants are required to complete an online application during the designated Tsinghua University (THU) application period at this website (https://yzbm.tsinghua.edu.cn/intlLogin). Applicants should fill in the necessary application information, upload the required documents to the Online Application System, and pay the application fee online at the time of submission.

☆ Please note that Tsinghua will have a winter break from January 16, 2025, to February 12, 2025.
