RESEARCH SUMMARY

My research areas are Computational Neuroscience and Brain-inspired Computing. Computational Neuroscience is a typical multi-disciplinary field, whose goal to use mathematical models to elucidate brain functions, and based on which, to develop brain-inspired intelligence. I am particularly interested in understanding the general mechanisms of processing spatial and temporal information in the brain. The projects I have been working on include: the capacity of working memory, the manipulation of working memory via invasive perturbation, the network encoding of rhythmic information, the compensation of neural transmission delay, and the reconstruction of network structure using neural data. Based on these neural models, I also developed several brain-inspired computational algorithms, including the algorithm for fast motion pattern recognition and the algorithm for tracking moving object anticipatively.

Up to now, I have published more than 40 scientific papers, including top journals and conferences in the fields of Neuroscience, Physics and AI, such as Neuron, PNAS, Nature Communication, Progress in Neurobiology, eLife, Neural Networks, Physical Review E, NeurIPS etc. I was invited to give talks in many international and national important conferences. I also have collaborations with industries to explore the potential applications of the brain-inspired algorithms I have developed (such as the collaboration with Huawei Technology Co., Ltd on key words spotting).
