Research Directions

My research group encourages interdisciplinary studies based on cutting-edge technologies. The methodologies employed include, but are not limited to: questionnaires, behavioral experiments, brain imaging (MRI, EEG), brain stimulation (TMS), cognitive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and natural language processing. In recent years, the key research topics have focused on the following:

Self-cognition

The self serves as the central hub of the human psychological world. The brain's self-system operates continuously, monitoring and regulating various processing activities. Information related to the self is typically prioritized for processing, a phenomenon known as the self-prioritization effect. In recent years, I has focused on exploring the psychological and neural mechanisms underlying this phenomenon and has sought to apply the findings to areas such as drug addiction and virtual gaming avatars.

Cultural Thinking

Culture profoundly influences how individuals perceive themselves and the world. Individuals from Eastern cultures exhibit unique differences in self-structure and thinking styles compared to those from Western cultures. I have long been dedicated to studying the psychological and neural mechanisms of cultural thinking, exploring the brain structures and functional bases behind these cultural differences.

Flow

When individuals concentrate on a current task, they often enter a highly immersive state of consciousness known as flow. I am interested in characterizing the psychological components and triggering conditions of the flow experience, as well as examining the accompanying patterns of brain activity.
