Design and Efficacy of Digital Exposure Therapy for Anxiety Symptoms: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Presenter: Yanwen Yu

Content:

Anxiety is a very common psychological distress. Exposure-based cognitive behavioral therapy has excellent intervention effects for anxiety, with substantial evidence-based support for its efficacy across various anxiety-related mental disorders. However, global mental health resources are severely lacking, and many patients troubled by anxiety problems cannot receive good intervention services. With technological advancement, digital technologies and platforms can improve this predicament and help more people obtain quality mental health services. This study plans to systematically collect and analyze randomized controlled studies related to the intervention of anxiety symptoms in different populations using digital exposure therapy, analyze the application of different digital platforms and technologies in exposure therapy, and explore potential factors affecting efficacy, promoting the promotion and further development of clinical practice and intervention resource availability.

To address this challenge, we conducted a systematic literature review and meta-analysis aimed at answering the following questions: (1) What are the effects of technology-based engagement enhancement strategies on user engagement and intervention outcomes? (2) What are the differences in effectiveness between different strategies? (3) Does the number of strategies used have an impact on user engagement or intervention outcomes?

Specifically, the study will focus on longitudinal analysis, utilizing data from two time points to further reveal the dynamic relationships between individual traits and internet addiction. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the complex interaction patterns between individual psychological characteristics and internet addiction through network analysis methods, providing data support and theoretical basis for future mental health intervention strategies.
