On the afternoon of February 18, the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "Department of Psychology") leadership team held its 2024 annual democratic life meeting. Luming Li, Vice Party Secretary of the University Party Committee and President, attended the meeting and delivered commentary remarks. Ying Li, Party Secretary of the Department of Psychology, presided over the meeting.
At the meeting, Ying Li, on behalf of the Department of Psychology leadership team, conducted a comparative examination and reported on the situation since the establishment of the Department of Psychology and the Department of Psychology Party Committee in April 2024, including how the department leadership team has thoroughly implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, and the deployment of the university's 15th Party Congress, solidly promoted the implementation of the "Tsinghua University Action Plan for Comprehensively Implementing the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China," and further comprehensively deepened reform. The team identified prominent problems from four aspects: "taking the lead in strictly observing political discipline and political rules, maintaining the unity and solidarity of the Party," "taking the lead in strengthening Party spirit, strictly observing discipline, and tempering work style," "taking the lead in courageously assuming responsibility and daring to innovate under the premise of compliance with rules and regulations and maintaining integrity and honesty," and "taking the lead in fulfilling the political responsibility of comprehensive and strict Party governance," analyzed the root causes of problems, and proposed rectification measures. Subsequently, team members conducted individual comparative examinations in turn, combined their own thinking and job performance, engaged in self-criticism, directly faced problems, communicated candidly, and accepted criticism from other team members.

In his commentary, Luming Li pointed out that the Department of Psychology leadership team's democratic life meeting was well-prepared, identified problems candidly and thoroughly, and conducted criticism and self-criticism seriously and earnestly, achieving the expected results. He emphasized that the Department of Psychology leadership team should further improve political awareness, enhance "banner" and "benchmark" consciousness, comprehensively strengthen the construction of the leadership team itself, take the lead in creating a united, powerful, clean, and upright atmosphere for struggle, and lead high-quality development with high-quality Party building. The team must always remember the original mission of establishing the department, strengthen forward-looking fundamental research in psychology and cognitive science and interdisciplinary integration, promote artificial intelligence-enabled disciplinary innovation, better serve the mental health and development needs of faculty, staff, and students, assist in implementing the Healthy China strategy, while conducting in-depth research on major fundamental problems in cognitive neuroscience, deeply understanding human brain intelligence, and supporting related interdisciplinary construction. The team should focus on the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and nurturing people, achieve high starting point planning, high standard construction, and high level management, persist in "accumulating small victories into great victories," coordinate all work with the goal of building world-class disciplines, establish the disciplinary brand of Tsinghua Department of Psychology, and contribute strength to the university's development of a new situation of high-quality development as a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.

Before the meeting, the Department of Psychology leadership team members, through a combination of individual self-study and collective discussion, deeply studied General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the Central Political Bureau's democratic life meeting, General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourse on comprehensively strengthening the Party's disciplinary construction, and the "Regulations on Disciplinary Actions of the Communist Party of China," widely solicited opinions from faculty and students, and conducted heart-to-heart talks, making full preparations for the meeting.
